We’re passionate about helping you grow and overcome trauma.

We must take our rightful place as healers of our people’s hearts and spirits and build our Nations home fires.

Bearwoman, Adele (Adela) Arcand is a Cree/Mohawk woman whose life purpose is Healing and Empowerment of people in need. She has worked for the past 30 years sharing her knowledge, her healing gifts with thousands of Indigenous people across Canada.

She served as Executive Director of Education for her community for ten years prior to starting Bearwoman & Associates in 1990.  Always driven by the desire to create and support positive change, Adele was instrumental in the delivery of a successful model of education recognized across the country.  The model was based on traditional teachings. She helped develop curriculum and was an Instructor for Grant MacEwan Mental Health Worker Diploma Program for 3 years.

Guided by her experiences, she has developed a unique spiritually guided method, to support traumatized clients heal and integrate past trauma. Bearwoman believes it’s time for our Natural Healers to take our rightful place as Healers of our people's hearts and spirits.

Meet the Associates

Jason Arcand (Brownbear)

Jason Arcand is a proud member of the Alexander First Nation. As a young father, with minimal support for men and fathers, it was easy to feel stuck in a world of violence and addictions. Finding a connection to spirit through his culture, Jason began to recognize how his past behaviors and choices were impacting his life, as well as, his children’s. He knew he needed to create positive change and begin his spiritual journey in self-discovery and healing. Receiving cultural support and guidance while on his healing path is how he found a new sense of purpose. Since then, he has been committed to learning and growing as an individual so that in turn, he can also support others on their healing journey.

Jason has since transformed his life and provided numerous workshops and training programs with First Nations and Community Organizations across Canada for over 30 years. He has developed and delivered workshops in many areas such as: Healing and Trauma, Personal Growth, Grief and Loss, Healthy Parenting & Blended Families, Youth Empowerment, Men’s wellness, Life Skills and Treatment Programs.
